General

Center for Neighborhoods

The Center for Neighborhoods was founded to address the disconnect between citizens and the public policies that impact their lives.

Neighborhood organizations serve as a critical point of entry for citizens to influence decisions on issues such as transportation, economic development, housing and community services. At the same time, however, neighborhoods are often given little or no ability to impact public policy and decision-making.

The Center for Neighborhoods was formed to find ways to strengthen neighborhoods, to help them develop a more effective voice and to facilitate cooperation among neighborhoods and city and regional policymakers.

The mission of Center for Neighborhoods is to serve as a catalyst and resource for promoting and encouraging ideas, alliances, policies and actions that increase the capacity of neighborhoods to strengthen the livability and vitality of their communities.
