Much
of the work of the Consortium revolves around finding creative ways
to share research and best practices with public audiences. This is
the second time we've turned to photojournalism to combine cutting
edge research with stories of Minnesota children, families and educators,
an the second time we've wrapped those messages in the banner of "Seeds
of Promise."
The
first series appeared in 1997, and included four columns:
- Protective
Factors
- Attachment
and Relationships
- The
Role of Fathers and
-
Community Support.
The
second series includes two volumes
- Early
Literacy & Language and
- Family-School
Partnerships - and focuses on the continuum
of learning from birth through the school years.
If
you would like to receive a complimentary copy of the first volume,
please call our office at 612/625-7849. And, consider ordering
multiple copies to share with your colleagues and constituents.
Project Description
Seeds
of Promise is a research dissemination project designed to educate
and motivate people at all levels about the kind of family and community
support children need to succeed in life. The project takes the form
of photo/editorial reports that focus on critical issues facing Minnesota
children and families.
Using
the popular photojournalistic style, the reports weave together key
research findings, public policy trends, community resources, and
model programs that are reaching families in new ways. This compelling
format has the capacity to reach audiences in ways that monographs,
white papers, and other public reports may not.
