The Minnesota States Initiative is a group of parents and individuals from local and state agencies and private, nonprofit organizations that have come together to strengthen support systems for families and their children. This Minnesota affiliate of the national State Technical Assistance for Effective Systems (STATES) Initiative is working to promote responsive and training and support for parents who want to be involved in various levels of community decisions making. "All Parents are Teachers" is a University of Minnesota Extension project designed to spread messages to teachers and parents about what children need, both in school and out of school, to be responsible, productive learner. The districtĖs Office of Family Involvement has produced standards for family involvement based on research, practice and the input of stakeholders groups. The office also offers a two-volume publication called Bright Ideas for Family Involvement, which focuses on innovative ways schools throughout the district are fostering involvement.
