as well as emerging intergenerational issues.
Vital aging addresses
issues of lifelong learning and maintaining civic engagement. It also
touches upon topics concerning seniors and health such as long-term
care and the financial aspects of providing health care to the aging
population.
Intergenerational
issues arise in multi-generational family situations such as grandparents
raising grandchildren and also in fostering relationships between
the young and the old.

This site provides
statistics on Americas ever-growing senior population including
statistics from nine federal agencies.
National
Center for Health Statistics' Longitudinal Studies of Aging
The Longitudinal
Studies of Aging (LSOAs) is a collaborative project of National
Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and the National Institute
on Aging (NIA). It is a multicohort study of persons 70 years
of age and over designed primarily to measure changes in the
health, functional status, living arrangements, and health
services utilization of two cohorts of Americans as they move
into and through the oldest ages.

This site
is a warehouse of data and contains information on trends in
health-related behaviors, health status, health care utilization,
and cost of care for the older population in the United States
at the national and State level.
SHAPE
- Survey of the Health of Adults, the Population, and the Environment
SHAPE is an ongoing
joint public surveillance and assessment project of the Hennepin
County Community Health Department, the Minneapolis Department
of Health & Family Support, and the Bloomington Division of
Health to repeatedly survey the health of adults in Hennepin County.
Survey of older adults in Ramsey County: Quality of life and community

This survey of about 500 older adults in Ramsey County, a joint
effort of Ramsey County and the Wilder Foundation, explores many
dimensions of the quality of life for older adults, ranging from
basic needs to the intangible things that add meaning and satisfaction
to life.
